Accurate Coin Appraisals and Valuation Services

Cash and Gold

When it comes time to get your coin collection or flatware appraised, come to fwcc. We have been in business for more than 40 years, and we have the coin dealer experience necessary to provide accurate coin appraisals. We also offer valuation services for flatware and jewelry.

We maintain a numismatist on staff. Our services can include informal appraisals, as well as formal appraisals for estate, insurance, or other legal purposes.

Rarity Equals Value

The value of old and rare coins are generally higher than newer coins or those that were manufactured in huge quantities. If you are interested in learning the value of your coins, we highly suggest coming to us for a valuation.

Condition Matters

There are 70 grades used to determine a coin’s condition. A coin in pristine condition is generally more valuable than one which is damaged.

Poor Condition Coins

Even a damaged coin may have value because of the precious metal it contains. This is referred to as "bullion value." If you like, you can still make money from gold and silver found in your coin.

Types of Appraisals

Specify the appraisal - replacement value of coins or the bid value of coins:
Replacement value is what it would cost you to literally replace a coin if damaged or lost due to natural disasters or burglary. The bid value is how much you’ll be offered by a coin dealer to buy a coin.

Learn the value of your collection and come to us for a coin appraisal. We are based in Fort Worth, TX.

Coin Appraisals and Valuation Services

Informal Offers to Purchase

For customers who wish to sell their collections, Fort Worth Coin Company makes offers to purchase collections at our store at no charge. For large collections, it is customary to provide an offer on a sampling of the collection to ensure that pricing is acceptable for the customer’s expectations before proceeding with an evaluation of the entire collection.

Appraisal Services

Appraisal Stamp

Fort Worth Coin Company provides formal, written appraisals for our customers as well as for professional advisors, fiduciaries, and executors subject to a one-hour minimum fee. The time required to appraise a collection will vary depending on the number and type of items and the number of uncommon items that require research.

The specific aspects that make coins valuable (scarcity, authenticity, condition, etc.) require physical examination, therefore appraisals cannot be provided from pictures or inventory lists.

Appraisals are based on the precious metals market rate at the time of the appraisal when applicable and, depending on the type of appraisal, will reflect replacement value or the value a dealer would pay for the collection.

Your collection is kept safely in one of our vaults and is insured while at our premises.

We provide appraisals for:

  • Estates
  • Equitable Distribution
  • Insurance
  • Trusts/Conservatorships

Should you decide to sell your collection to Fort Worth Coin Company, the appraisal fee will be waived provided the items do not leave the store which would require an additional inventory of the collection.
